Spain 'is a pioneer of renewable energy'

Spain's energy minister has stated that his country is a leading pioneer of developments in the renewable energy industry.

Pedro Marin said that over the last few years Spain has built up "a strong industrial cluster supplying the energy sector".

The energy minister was commenting ahead of the European Future Energy Forum (EFEF), at which he will be appearing later this month.

"Spain has learnt that regulation and support schemes have to be stable and visible but also flexible," he added.

Mr Marin will be joined at the EFEF by fellow European energy ministers such as Chris Huhne from the UK, Lykke Friis from Denmark and Portugal's Carlos Zorrinho.

More than 900 companies have already registered to attend the event at the ExCel Centre in London from October 19th to 21st 2010.

The exhibition and conference will feature more than 100 speakers across a range of 27 different sessions regarding renewable energy and its future usage across Europe.
