Solar energy 'is a free source of power'

Solar energy can be a free source of power, according to government-accredited company Solar Fusion.

Andy Groves, head of marketing at the firm, explained that more businesses are set to be encouraged to use solar energy to meet their power requirements over the coming years.

"It is pretty much a free source of energy. I think it's the way that the world is going to have to go to be honest. There's obviously dwindles in fossil fuels," he said.

Mr Groves added that stories such as the solar-powered plane which recently flew non-stop for a fortnight without refuelling show the success of the renewable energy source.

It was reported earlier this month that solar energy could be set to receive a boost by using technology which can also be found on robots that scour the surface of Mars.

Dr Malay Mazumder from Boston University explained that the machines "zap" themselves clean - technology which could be adapted in order to be used to make the production of solar energy more efficient.
