Siemens is set to announce a partnership that will see it take a step into wind farming in Russia.

The company is expected to unveil details of the venture on July 15th that will enable it to make its first move in the developing industry in the country, according to the Financial Times.

People working close to Angela Merkel told the news provider that the deal will be formally announced by Peter Loscher, the chief executive of Siemens, during a trip to Russia with the German chancellor.

It marks another stage of the expansion plan into the emerging economy by Mr Loscher, as the scheme to create wind turbines will follow on from orders worth millions of euros to deliver trains to state-owned and regional operators.

Wind farms in the UK are set to receive a boost with the news that a site at Clatto Farm in Fife is set to created, the Courier recently reported.
