Scotland 'has phenomenal' renewable energy resources

Scotland's "phenomenal" renewable energy resources make it an ideal location for businesses in the green industry to open up and create new green jobs.

This is according to the Renewable Energy Association, which stated that the country is "fantastic" for green jobs as a result.

Leonie Green, external affairs spokeswoman at the body, explained that the country has a "massive" amount of forest that can be used to create heat.

She added that Scotland also has "huge concentrations of marine energy" and called on the government to commit to renewable energy heating centres.

"The UK is so far behind on renewables that we cannot afford delays or uncertainty and we hope they will prioritise that sector," she said.

Her comments come shortly after Scotland on Sunday reported that Alex Salmond, the first minister in Scotland, had met with Iberdrola - the owner of Scottish Power - to discuss plans to build a floating offshore wind farm off the coast of the country.
