RWE Innogy has announced that it has been awarded the contract
to construct an offshore wind energy development.
It will now carry out work on the Nordsee Ost wind farm, while
ABB will provide around 63km of cables to serve the wind energy development.
Professor Martin Skiba, head of offshore wind at RWE Innogy,
stated that the company is ahead of schedule.
"With turbines, foundations and cables, we have now secured the
main components and can begin with the construction at sea as
planned in the autumn of next year," he said.
Once it is completed, the Nordsee Ost wind energy development will join North Hoyle and
Rhyl Flats wind farms as projects worked on by RWE Innogy.
It is also involved with the Gwynt y Mor wind energy development which is currently being
developed off the coast of Wales.
When the project is completed, the wind farm will bring around
£20 million to the local economy.
