Major new wind farm factory announced

A major new renewable energy development has been announced in England, with £20 million to be spent creating a new factory.

TAG Energy Solutions states that the facility, which will be located in the Tees Valley, will produce turbines for wind energy developments.

David Eason, chairman of TAG Energy Solutions, claimed that the firm's new factory will be "world-class" and could create as many as 400 jobs on the banks of the River Tees.

"With direct access to the North Sea through our riverside location, we have a geographical advantage over international competitors," he said, adding that this gives the north-east in particular an advantage over regions which want to move into renewable energy developments.

This comes shortly after the world's largest offshore wind farm was opened by renewable energy firm Vattenfall off the coast of Kent earlier this month.

More than 200,000 local homes could be powered by the wind energy which is set to be produced at the site, according to the company.
