Glasgow to host renewable energy conference

Glasgow is to host a major renewable energy conference later this year.

From November 2nd to 4th 2010, industry experts will descend on the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow to attend the 32nd Annual Conference and Exhibition held by RenewableUK.

The trade association will welcome speakers such as the first minister of Scotland Alex Salmond and UK energy minister Charles Hendry.

Maria McCaffery, chief executive of RenewableUK, stated that now is an exciting time for the renewable energy industry.

"The UK has already overtaken Denmark as the largest offshore wind energy generator and has recently celebrated the 5GW milestone of installed onshore and offshore wind capacity," she said.

Ms McCaffery added that the conference will give delegates the chance to debate the future of renewable energy.

Industry figures will be heading to London from October 19th to 21st in order to attend the European Future Energy Forum.

Speakers at the event include ministers from around the continent, such as the UK and climate change secretary Chris Huhne.
