Firm announces European energy expansion

A company from the UK has announced that it is to set up a base in Poland as part of a push into the European energy sector.

West Coast Energy stated that it wants to take advantage of the race to build more wind farms across the continent by opening up an office in Poznan, which will be its first base away from the firm's home in north Wales.

"Wind energy has an important role to play in meeting the EU target for renewable energy to account for 20 per cent of consumption by 2020 and onshore wind has a big part to play," said West Coast Energy's co-founder and director Gerry Jewson.

Last October, the company moved into a new £2 million office in Mold in Flintshire, after it outgrew its old headquarters at Waen Farm and the directors decided to move into new accommodation to fuel the expansion of the business.

As part of the move, West Coast Energy launched a new corporate identity, ahead of its push into the European energy sector.
