European energy firm opens Liverpool base

A European energy firm is moving some of its operations to a new base on Merseyside.

Enfinity has opened offices in Liverpool as part of its plans to develop renewable energy in the UK.

Patrick Decuyper, co-founder and chief executive officer at Enfinity Europe, stated that the company will be looking into both wind power and solar energy.

"Liverpool ticked all the right boxes for our business needs. Liverpool offers us a high quality skill set, excellent transport links, access to business expertise and exceptional value for money," he said.

It is estimated that by the end of 2010 Enfinity will be producing as much as 200MW of renewable energy, which is enough to power 60,000 households.

Enfinity recently announced a capital investment of tens of millions of euros in a bid to boost its plans for rapid expansion.

As part of the move, Marc Coucke and Ivan Lokere will join the European energy company's board of directors.
