E.ON completes English wind farm

Energy firm E.ON has completed work on a new five-turbine wind farm in County Durham.

Haswell Moor, near Haswell Plough, is the location for the new facility, which is slated to generate 2MW of renewable energy.

It is predicted that this will be enough to power more than 5,000 homes in the area with clean energy every year.

Richard Couzens, E.ON's construction project manager for the scheme, said: "All five wind turbines are now up and running and producing electricity."

He added that the creation of the new wind farm is "great news for the environment", as it will displace thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions every year it is operational.

E.ON already has a wide range of renewable energy developments all over the UK, including onshore and offshore wind farms and biomass plants.

One of the largest is the offshore wind farm off the coast of Great Yarmouth, which creates enough renewable energy to provide power for 30,000 homes.
