Recharge Wins Prestigious REA Top Advocate Award

Award-Winning Recharge

Recharge has won the prestigious British Renewable Energy Association’s (REA) top Advocate Award at a star-studded gala dinner held on 10th June 2010 at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel in London.

The annual award, started in 2006, is for: “The NGO, campaign, publication or association that has done most to enhance awareness of renewables in the public and/or key opinion formers”.

The REA awards are given to exceptional companies and individuals in nine different categories and are generally recognised as the leading awards in the renewables business.  It was the first time a publication has won this particular award.

“This award is for all the hard-working members of the Recharge editorial and sales team who have tirelessly worked around the clock to turn us into a great publication and online success story in just 18 short months,” says Chris Hopson, Recharge Editor-in-Chief.

“Recharge, which has shaken up the renewables industry with its dynamic mix of daring news, supported by regular features, opinions and profiles, has received the recognition it deserves. My particular thanks go to the many unsung heroes on the staff who have contributed so much to building our unique brand,” he adds.

The award was made to Chris Hopson at the big gala dinner attended by Gunnar Bjorkavag (CEO), Sidsel Norvik (Managing Director), and Paul Berrill (News Editor) representing NHST/Recharge, together with specially invited guests from across the renewable energy business.

Notes to Editor:

Recharge was launched in January 2009 to provide uncompromising news across the global renewables industry.  It’s focus is the whole industry, rather than one sector, and the whole world rather than one country or region.  It delivers must-read news on wind, solar, hydro, biofuels, wave & tidal and geothermal power on a weekly basis through Recharge – the tabloid newspaper – and on a continuous basis through the website rechargenews.com.  The combination of the two creates a news source of record for one of the world’s most exciting industries.

Recharge has 13 reporters located around the world.  All are experienced journalists who know the renewable energy industry and are solely employed by Recharge.  With such a focused approach, Recharge is able to uphold the high standard of global news demanded by readers of the weekly newspaper and by users of Rechargenews.com every day.
