Daniel joined Masdar in January of 2009. As Head of Origination he is responsible for Masdar’s international direct investment efforts in the renewable power sector. The group is actively working on the origination of new Thermo-Solar, PV and Wind downstream opportunities in the US, Europe and the MENA Region. Daniel’s group is also responsible for a CSP Joint Venture called Torresol. The Spanish JV has committed ~$ 1.5bn during the past year to build 3 Thermosolar-Plants in Spain.

Prior to joining Masdar, Daniel spent 10 years at General Electric in a number of Finance, M&A and Principal Investments roles in Asia, Europe, North and South America. At the end of his career with GE, Daniel was a Director of Origination for GE Energy Financial Services, covering Equity investments in Germany & Spain, where he led a number of transactions across the Solar and Wind industries, which included the GE’s investment in Fotowatio, today a leading global independent developer, owner and operator of PV plants with operations in Spain, Italy and USA. Other GE transactions included GE’s acquisitions of Heller Bank, Universal Pictures, Telemundo and PII.

Daniel holds degrees in Industrial Engineering & Finance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, as well as an MBA from the London Business School.
