Masdar Institute of Science and Technology is a new, research-focused, graduate-level university based in Abu Dhabi. It is dedicated to the pursuit of pioneering research that seeks to secure our energy future and provide solutions to the challenge of climate change. Committed to working at the cutting edge of science and engineering, we are focused on delivering alternative energy, environmental technologies and sustainability solutions. To serve as the nucleus of an interdisciplinary, collaborative, high-technology research and development infrastructure in Abu Dhabi that helps transform the Emirate into a leading source of advanced technologies and highly-skilled human capital.

Partnerships

Masdar Institute has been developed with the support and cooperation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a relationship that extends from collaborative research, to development of the Institute’s degree programs and assessment of potential faculty and students. 

Location

Masdar Institute will be located at the heart of Masdar City, and will play an integral role in offering some of the most compelling benefits to students and faculty, as well as to the larger community residing in Masdar City.

Researchers will be provided with a unique opportunity: access to an entire city that is truly a “living laboratory” – a six square kilometre district that will have zero waste, will be zero carbon and will be entirely powered by renewable energy. Our students will be living, and experiencing first-hand the technologies they are researching, studying, and developing.
